E-Landscape to Transform Parking Space in Downtown Annapolis into Temporary Park as Part of PARK(ing) Day 2012
Davidsonville, MD September 20, 2012 – Davidsonville, Maryland‐based commercial landscaping specialist E‐Landscape Specialty Solutions is partnering with Richard Sweeney Landscape Architecture to participate in the global event PARK(ing) Day in downtown Annapolis. PARK(ing) Day is an annual worldwide event where artists, designers and citizens transform metered parking spots into temporary public parks. The mission of PARK(ing) Day is to call attention to the need for more urban open space, to generate critical debate around how public space is created and allocated, and to improve the quality of urban human habitat. As part of the PARK(ing) Day events in Annapolis, E‐Landscape will be temporarily transforming a public parking space in front of Tsunami Sushi Bar & Lounge on West Street in downtown Annapolis into a park for locals, commuters and tourists to enjoy. This particular park will also serve as a demonstration site to illustrate the many options available to maintain pervious surfaces. “PARK(ing) Day is not just a fun event – it is really an effective tool in starting dialogues about the way our cities are designed and the role that green space should play,” commented E‐Landscape President Eric Drenner. “We are thrilled to be participating and are looking forward to the reaction from passersby!”

E-Landscape to Install Anchorplex Retaining Wally System at Victory Court Senior Housing Development
Davidsonville, MD September 14, 2012 – E‐Landscape is excited to once again team with Hamel Builders to provide landscaping for a new senior living facility in Rockville, Maryland. Victory Court is a new, mixed income apartment community for seniors 62 and over located between Monroe Street and Maryland Avenue in Rockville Town Center. The three‐story complex with stone and brick townhouse‐style architecture is designed to fit in with the neighborhood of historic homes near Rockville’s government center and downtown. Developed by Victory Housing Inc., the nonprofit development arm of the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, Victory Court’s public areas include a walkout terrace and patio in a partially enclosed courtyard with a gazebo. E‐Landscape’s scope of work for the project includes the construction of an Anchorplex retaining wall system. The Anchorplex retaining wall system offers a unique, nonconventional solution to problematic wall construction sites. It is a retaining wall built with Anchor™ products and self‐compacting structural backfill specified by Anchor Wall Systems. When used in combination with blocks of the appropriate shape, the structural backfill attaches itself to the wall facing, effectively extending the depth and increasing the mass of the facing. In addition to reinforcing the block facing, the structural backfill zone also serves as the required drainage zone. Using the Anchorplex retaining wall system completely eliminates the need for the construction of a mechanically stabilized earth zone behind the wall facing and requires substantially less excavation than is usually necessary in grid‐reinforced wall construction. Construction on Victory Court is expected to be complete by mid‐summer 2013.
