Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) recently completed work on a major construction project including an expanded emergency room and a new pediatric ER. Working with general contractor Whiting Turner, E-Landscape installed many of the soft and hardscape elements designed by Annapolis-based landscape architects The Faux Group.
E-Landscape’s portion of the project began with the installation of modular concrete pavers. After working with the architect and owner to select a range of paver colors to compliment various architectural elements on the building façade, our team laid paver units in a 45 degree Herringbone pattern with graceful sweeps of accent colors delicately cut to provide tranquil elements to the outdoor seating areas. When the hardscaping was completed, we began planting the forest enhancement area with a mixture of native deciduous and evergreen trees. As the site work started to come together, we were able to move into the bulk of the project at the building’s bio retention ponds and foundations where we installed large masses of native shrubs and grasses in the bioretention areas and stately boxwood hedges and juniper groundcover at the building’s foundation and entrance. Over 400, 3 foot tall “Old English Boxwood” backdropped with Southern Magnolias and Crape Myrtles tie the “old and new” together and maintain the campus feel of the property.
